Meet Allison
I’m Allison Wheeler, the artist behind Wheeler Works. I’m completely self-taught, which is a fancy way of saying I started painting without knowing exactly what I was doing and simply refused to stop.
For most of my life, golf was my thing. I played competitively, built my identity around sports, and assumed that was the path. Then an injury ended my golf career, and during a season that felt frustrating, weird, and very much not part of the plan, I picked up painting.
At first, it was just something to do while I healed. Then it became something more — a way to process, reset, laugh, focus, and make something beautiful out of a chapter I didn’t choose.
Now I paint on the side while in medical school, working toward a future in pediatric cardiology. My art pulls from the things I love most: animals, sports, water, medicine, movement, color, and people with big feelings.
My style is vibrant, emotional, playful, and occasionally unhinged. I like paintings that feel alive. I like color that does the absolute most. I like art that makes people say, “Wait, I kind of need that.”
And yes, I will probably ask about your dog.
